Curl Curl and Freshwater
This is an easy 5 kilometre walk through two delightful beachside suburbs north of Sydney.
Begin at the sprawling car park located behind North and South Curl Curl beaches.
Head south along the pathway towards South Curl Curl Life Saving Club and the ocean pool nearby. Walk past the pool and take the steps which lead up to a small car park.
Walk through this and you will come to the Curl Curl Boardwalk with fantastic views along the coast to Manly and North Head. From there the walkway joins Lumsdaine Drive. To your right is the Duke Kahanamoku Memorial, dedicated to the famous Hawaiian surfer who gave exhibitions of surfing at Freshwater Beach in 1914/15.
Proceed to the eastern side of the headland and take the steps past Freshwater rock pool. Follow the path down to the beach and walk up the sand to Ocean View Road. Walk all the way through the car park to Moore Road then go right. When you reach Albert Street turn left into the village. Here are cafes where you can enjoy a break, and a variety of shops to explore.
To return to Curl Curl go down Albert Street, turn right into Evans Street and stroll along past many wonderful homes which overlook Freshwater Beach.
