Darling Point to Blackburn Gardens
Darling Point is a harbour side suburb, with many of the magnificent mansions listed on the Register of the National Estate. These include The Swifts on Darling Point Road, Cloncorrick on Annandale Street and Carthona on Carthona Avenue.
You can travel to Edgecliff by train or bus. Walk towards the city on New South Head Road. Turn right into Darling Point Road and stroll past the old world beauty of houses and apartments, many with fantastic views of the city and harbour. Darling Point Wharf is directly below McKell Park. This a walk of 2 kilometres.
If you want to walk to Double Bay, retrace your journey, and go left down Marathon Road, following the steps to Double Bay. You can walk to the shopping precinct or progress to Blackburn Reserve. To do this walk along Double Bay Beach to Beach Street. Take a left on William Street and another left onto New South Head Road.
A short walk takes you to Blackburn Gardens. Walk down the steps to Red leaf Cafe. it's about a 2 kilometre walk from McKell Park. Below the cafe is a harbour beach with a netted pool, named after famous Australian Olympian swimmer Murray Rose.
To return home walk to either Rose Bay Wharf or Edgecliff Station. Both are about 1.5 kilometres from Blackburn Gardens.
