Ettalong to Gosford
This is a great ride along the shoreline of Brisbane Waters on the Central Coast, north of Sydney. The whole return journey is 42 kilometres.
Start the trip with a ferry ride from Palm Beach to Ettalong which takes about 30 minutes. When you exit the wharf at Ettalong, turn right, then left into Webb Road. When you reach Booker Bay Road turn left. Travel along the road going under a bridge and continue as the road changes to Orange Grove Road, then Blackwall Road.
Turn right into McMasters Road and start on the pathway along the shoreline. When you reach Woy Woy Fishermans Wharf turn right into The Boulevarde. Upon arriving at the wharf go to the right, taking the pathway beside the water and go over the bridge. Travel along the marked pathway through the suburbs of Koolewong and Tascott. Enter Kurrawa Avenue just before Point Claire Station. After about 1.3 kilometres, just before the Marine Rescue Central Coast, is the entrance to a tunnel which passes under the rail line. Look carefully as it's easy to miss the entrance.
Ride along the pathway until you reach Bungaree Reserve. Just past the children's playground, turn onto the path to your right and go to Yallambee Avenue. Ride along the path and turn right at the Central Coast Highway. When you see the cycling signs, go into Garnet Adcock Memorial Park. At the far side of the park is a velodrome which is open to the public. Get on the track do a few laps just for fun. Get back on the pathway and ride through Carawah Reserve which comes out next to the highway. Proceed along the shoreline to Eat Street Cafe where you can get some good food. If you want to return to Ettalong to catch the ferry back to Palm Beach, just retrace the journey.
